1. Name?
Gabrielle Veenstra
2. Name and type of your company or Kennel name?
KynoSpirit is a well known name in the showdog world, we are specialized in training showdogs. We train over 120 dogs in 18 groups every week and give also Workshops, private lessons and so on.
I myself started as a Junior handler and really got a hold of the show virus hihi. As I got older I wanted to make a change in the showdog world so I started giving classes and 10 years later I am where I am now.
Owner of KynoSpirit, showdog training school, wholesale company and Educational institute.
3. Favorite breed/s?
Too many, there are no breeds I dislike! I'm especially fond of group 10 Sighthounds, but also like groups 5,2,3,7 ...
4. What is your biggest passion with regards to dogs?
Wow difficult question...
I just love dogs, I'm so interested in their behavior and also the movement and exterior of the dogs. It's my biggest passion to get a dog that loves showing him or herself, so it's always a challenge how to get every dog to show like they just love to be in the ring :)
5. How long have you owned, bred or cared for dogs/your breed?
Well we always had dogs, ever since I was a baby, so 29 years I think ;)
My mom and dad started with the Hovawart, just 2 males no showmaterial, as they called it back than... After moving to a smaller place they decided a smaller breed but with a big character would be better, so there was the: Irish Glen of Imaal Terrier, we've bred with them for 16 years and still help our puppy owners out with breeding, but we don't have the dogs nor the time to have litters of our own.
Since 1 month ago I'm the proud owner of a Podengo Portugues Pequeno Roughhaired.
6. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? (Ambition)
Also a difficult question...
I hope to maintain where I am right now :) And let the business evolve in a healthy way!
7. What is your experience with the Handlers leads?
They are just absolutely fabulous! They're really easy to handle and for me easy to sell because I don't care what you want, we can deliver!!!! They look stylish, the feel is smooth... It's just the best there is!
8. What is your favorite lead type or functionality? (Handlers ( if there is something we are not currently doing, but you think is better than our solutions, please let us know about it too))
I like them all!, It depends on which dog I'm showing.
9. What is the most stressful moment you have experienced in the showring, ever?
Hihihihi
I was showing a Belgium shepherd roughhaired, really young bitch, she became best of breed and had to go in the main ring.
But.... She didn't like to be touched or looked at by a judge, and definitely didn't want to show her ears... So I thought, ring in-ring out. the judge didn't think so and was so pleasantly surprised by her movement, that I was selected for the best 10 in group 1.
At that point she didn't want to do a thing with me anymore, just wanted to get out of the ring to her mommy.... The judge just let us run and run and run....
I was exhausted but then the placement came... I became first!
10. What is the funniest thing that has happened to you or you witnessed at a dog show?
I was planning never to tell anyone but....
One time I was showing an Irish Glen of Imaal Terrier, when I tried to stack him, I lifted him up, and he peeed all over my hand...
